I'm sorry for the OT, but I'm curious. Have any of you gents or ladies had anything positive happen on farmersonly? I joined about a month ago. I was really shocked at how many young ladies were on there around my age (20yrs.) Problem is, the ones I'd really be interested in are too far away. (I'm in IL, they're in MN and MD) Wondering what your folks' opinion is on the site.

Never heard of Farmersonly, but might want to check out Singles in Agriculture. Won't say you will meet a future mate there, but they do have a lot of fun activities.

I wouldn't dare, the wife would kill me! Seriously, from what I hear on shows like Americas Heartland, lots of city women wanting to be country girls. No doubt with stars in their eyes and no grasp on the reality of farm life. I huge problem waiting to happen in my opinion. If you can find a real country girl, great. Guess I'd try if I was single.

All depends on what your looking for. Yes, there is a few on Farmersonly, but I prefer Match.com myself, especially if you would consider a girl that didn't grow up on a farm. I find there is a lot of high quality singles on match, moreso than other sites. Myspace is free and you can search for dates on there, but myspace has a lot of women that just want to party on there. I think I've searched all those dating sites, and there are hundreds out there, but Match.com is tops with me. Yahoo also has personals, and those you can search without signing up, but they will only allow you to view one profile before asking you to sign up.

I"ve been watching this thread from the sidelines and appreciate your asking. Been going to try farmersonly when the combine is put to bed and have time in the house.

Another Idea would be if we could convince Kim to add this sort of feature to this site?!?!?! Probably wouldn"t work due to the ratio of men to women here though.

Your young at 20 you have the world ahead of you. I agree with Old Fashioned Farmer, Last gal I dated was a 2 hour drive away and the trip seemed enjoyable.

Good thread.

Howdy,

I took a swing at that site back in the summer and had the same luck as I do in the "real world". Well, lo and behold a very nice girl from down in Kentucky contacted me, we started chatting on an instant messenger, that led to phone conversations, and after the thanksgiving holiday is all settled we'll be going on our first date. I'm from Southern ohio and she's about 2 hours south of me. It's a little bit of a drive but I'm pretty happy with how things have worked out. A lot of folks are leery of internet sites and there's good reason to be. However, for me that was one of the only options. I don't have a big social life, so I don't get out a lot. I tend to be workin on the farm when I'm not at my "real" job and the only ladies I might meet at my church are in the 70 and up crowd. All depends on what your situation is. Best of luck and God bless.

Well, Let me tell you the short version of my story. I met my wife 3 years ago this coming January. I live in California, she was in Rhode Island. We met on Cowboy.com. I was chatting about calving cows, she was planning a vacation.
We started talking on the phone and one thing to another, and I ended springing for a plane ticket. Match made in Paradise? Pretty much! We both did background checks on each other prior to meeting. We are opposites and quite alike at the same time. The key thing is that we have the same core values and goals in life. Honesty is the best policy. She never as much pushed a lawn mower and now she bales hay everynite all summer long. Our phone bill was high, but give out references if you are like me from a small town you know: the Judge, the DA, the Sheriff. Be credible, confident, and realistic. There are lots of gals looking to be farmers wives. Don't play games, just show a gal what you have to offer. Have a open mind be ready to change. I wouldn't want to be single again. My wife has totally change my life along with hers. By the way hate to brag, But I got a great looking woman and never saw a picture of her till the day I met her at the airport. I knew she was "the one", just by talking to her. She was tired of men liking her for just her looks. I got to know her before I had clue of what she looked like and the same for her. Just don't give up hope. Plane tickets are cheap so distance is not an excuse to meeting the Love of your Life. That Brad Paisly song is so true. I was soo much cooler online. I reckon fate brought my wife and I together. I just know I took a chance and was willing to adapt and change all for the better. I have a new best friend abd business partner, because I bought a plane ticket. I never paid too much attention to how bright the stars or how clean the air is. Till I brought my wife home. Distance is not a barrier if you want something, it will only make the heart grow fonder after you meet.

I used to have a profile there. But I found the same problem, the closest people I could find on there were about 100 miles away. Hey if I can find that out before ever signing up as a member, why in the world would I register?

But that's a problem with every dating site I've seen. The problem isn't really the site, just that I live in the boonies! lol

Listen, you're better off staying off the internet and getting out there in the "real world".

Plenty of fish between you and the ones you like. Don't set yourself up for failure.

I figured I'd hear that. I've been out the "'real world,'" which is exactly why I thought I'd give a dating site a chance. Oh, and I've set myself up for failure enough times already.
