Alignment!! Check the pump fame where it is fastened to engine and make sure these bolts have not lossened. The little hole you refer to, had a dip stick in it at one time to check HY Tran fluid level. It goes down through a trans cover bolt. The main relief valve is almost directly above and forward of this bolt, in the valve bank, inserted from the bottom up. Just changed one and should be 2500# relief.
