The belt pully gear shaft needs to be taken loose at the flange that holds it in every now and again. Slide the shaft assembly out and inch or so to let the oil drain out. If it has not been drained for a long time, you will get some water out along with about a quart or so of oil. The water is due to condensation. The belt pulley has a small gear sump that is fed from the transmission and overflows back to the transmission. However, it can't drain completely and since it is the high point, and usually the coolest if the belt pulley is not used, so water tends to condense there and stay there. Over a period of time, the water will corrode and ruin the belt pulley bearings. After you drain the oil out and you have reattached the pulley flange, put back about a quart of gear oil (same as used in the transmission) into the fill hole on top of the pulley gear housing. Make sure the mating surface of the flange and the shims are real clean when you bolt it back up. The flange does not have a gasket, just the shims to set the gear mesh. If everything is not perfectly clean when you bolt it back, you will have an oil leak.
