42 A should be 6V positive ground. The Neg battery wire should be run to the starter. You should have a generator with cut out relay mounted on top of it. Light switch should be mounted on steering post and should controll High/Low charge and Bright/Dim lights. That is the decal marking on the switch box. Let us know. Dave.
