Dion: To begin with, I think you will find most of the offset tractor front ends that are seized in the adjusting tubes are tractors that had nitrogen side dressing equipment and cultivators a good portion of the time. Some of them never had it removed and precious little was ever done to clean them up even at end of season. I know that was the case with the front end I had problems with. My SA never had a side dresser thus 50 years later adjustments were as a new one, paint was still on tubing inside. My 140 was slightly stuck when I got it two years ago. I can see where side dressing equipment was mounted, but I also know it was stored in a heated building and anyone that particular probably steamed it after each nitrogen application. I say paint or spray graphite because it will stay there better than grease. Grease will also just collect dust and dust will get in there. Installing zerks, maybe, problem I see is grease will follow the path of least resistance and not go around the tube. Personally I like the graphite, been using it in some form for 40 years. These spray cans just made it twice as useful and easy to use. Most everything you find seized on these old tractors, is little more than a case of someone's carelessness in the past.

Originally the company was called the Cleveland Motor Plow Company which began in 1912, then the Cleveland Tractor Company (1917) and finally Cletrac.
