there is a place called surplus supply that has a number of different char-lynn torqe generators, many for fork lift applications, something like that may work also, they mount at the base of the steering wheel on a forklift. just a thought tho, have you checked the front end on your c at the steering knuckles to see if they are binding? if i remember, there are upper and lower bushings in the axles that the knuckles ride in. could be they are worn and causing hard steering.
