Keith, There is no reason to remove the hyd pump to replace the rear engine seal on the crankshaft. Once the engine is rolled away (split) from the center section, the flywheel is right out in the open. You remove the clutch assembly then you are able to get at the flywheel. Once you have that heavy thing off the seal can be replaced. Make sure you check the condition of the gear teeth on the flywheel, Now would be the time to flip the gear over if you discover any bad looking teeth.
