I overhauled my JD 50 about three or four years ago. It was a family tractor owned by my late father-in-law. Sentimental value. I have at least twice invested in it over what it is worth. I had the block bored, head machined with new valve guides, springs and valves, rods re-conditioned, crankshaft re-ground, new pistons/rings, rod/main bearings, gaskets. New fan frictions/bearings. New throttle frictions. Axle seals and some axle bearings. New parts in the clutch. New brakes. PTO clutch rebuilt. Many other items that I've forgotten. The cost adds up real quick. I've never had the courage to sit down and add up all of the tickets, but I'm guessing the total would push $3500. I consider my repair to be a mechanical restoration.
