I recently purchased "Farm Tractors - A Living History" at Barnes & Noble. It pretty much tells the evolution of the farm tractor. It's ISBN# is 0-7603-0030-5. Written by Randy Leffingwell and published by Motorbooks International. 240 pages, including the index. Hope this helps, I think the book is the best I've seen on the development of the tractor.
