: I have a 720 diesel that has play on the flywheel. I have heard plenty of horror storries of breaking cranks and launching flywheels. Is there any possible in expensive remedy for this problem, or is the only answer a new flywheel for $800?
Adam,
I think I have read of this problem common to 70-730 Diesels in Green Magazine. While I own a 60 and did not pay the strict attention to other people writing about it, I'm sure that you need to examine a part called a tapered flywheel lock. The beauty of it is that you can keep your existing flywheel. I would contact Green Magazine about it and look for adds from companies that sell this. It's worth a shot.
