: I removed a 7 hp and replaced it with a 12 hp. The deeper oil pan hangs down and clears the engine mounting plate. With that bigger engine, I can push wet snow in third gear and keep the chains flying. I am sure any cub cadet owners will under stand if I brag a little about how much that tractor can pull! Full size cars, camper trailers, it is great mule to have aroung the yard. Does any one need a 71 frame with front end and a mower deck? I have one to sell cheap or swap. I want a rotor tiller for a 71. Paul
: : bill how much would you take for that engine, and were are you located? Iwasnt sure if the later engines would fit since they semmed to have a oil pan type bottom unlike the 7hp k161 has a flat bottom. and will the 4 bolts line up? Hey thanks for getting back with me, and thanks for your time.
: : : Eric,
: : : You can use any Cadet style Kohler engine,
: : : 7,8,10,12,14,oe 16hp engine. I would recommend
: : : a 10 or 12 hp. It depends on what you want to do.
: : : I have a 12 hp. engine complete that needs an
: : : overhaul if you are interested.
