diesel fuel supplement? Need it?

I run some old massey diesel tractors which have the rotary type injection pump. I have heard that these pumps need the sulfer in the old fuel to lube the pumps. Also the seals tend to dry out in them also. Does anybody know about this or know what to use in place of the sulfer?
