I'm just wondering if anyone knows who (if) makes the old-style disc breaking plow? Rather than bottoms it had large discs, but worked the same way. I see some small ones made overseas but none here in the U.S.

Thanks for all the responses. I answered my own question though with a little digging around. A company called NAAMCO still makes large ones, and switch versions.....Here's the site (ttp://216.183.42.241/nmc/plows/switchplow.html)

Hester Plow of Lake City, FL makes and sells them. I was looking for one about 2 yrs. ago to break new ground for planted pines. Down here in the South they are referred to as "new ground" plows. Hester Plow calls their's a "Fire Line" or "Fire Break" plow. The phone # is 386.755.0960 - Steve was rep but I think he has since moved on. Good folks just the same.

I was looking at the Model 280, two bottom as I only have an Oliver 550. These things will "work" a tractor at least it did mine.

Price in 1999 was $1892 which was to rich for my blood, er, budget. I shopped around and found an old Allis WD disk plow for $100. I quickly modifieid it to fit 3pth. I still have the original front drawbar hitch if you think you can use it.

Another consideration is to find an old FORD 10-80 plow. During my research found several of these but transportation costs to FL prevented purchase.

Are you interested in selling your disc plow. I live in Tallahassee and have about 100 acres to the west of town that is all new ground and I would like to return some baxk to a pasture. If interested email me atDonHanna@DonHanna.com. Thanks

Rhome Co. makes disk breaking plows. But most are
built for higher hp tractors.
Hope this helps!

Recently saw a site on the internet where an implement place was selling new disc breaking plows. I had done a search on farm implements and came up with it. I know they still make them.

Hi Joe,
I have one that I use and it still has the Ford metal serial tag on it. I don't know how old it is, but my father used it with our 8N when he bought the tractor in 1950. Ford may still be making them. Good luck.
