Our recently purchased 7030 has 4 batteries that I am assuming are 6v. So I'm guessing it starts on 24v and swiitches back to 12v, is that correct? How can it be converted over to use 2 12v batteries and is that a good or bad idea? What about charging the batteries, do I us 12v or 6 v on the charger? Tell me how all this works and what is the best way to go for the best cranking. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You probably have the 4 battery start option which is 4 12 volt batteries hooked in paralell which was offered for the 426 especially for cold weather starting and should also have the heavier Neihoff alternator too. I don't know where you're located but if it's in a warmer climate you probably shouldn't need all four batteries two should be fine. Like someone else already stated it's 12 volt all the way no magic there.

It is 12 volt all the way!! 12 volt starting and system. 2 12 volt batteries will work fine.
