Actually, the industrial tractor serial # will begin with I-60 or I-600, then the #. At least that is the way it was on the last I-400 I saw at an auction in early March.

I-60 is based on the D 15 tractor. Serial number should be on the left front area of the torque tube. Torque tube is where the engine bolts to the clutch housing. Serial numbers are always STAMPED, not CAST. Just forward of that area, you will find a stamped number ON the engine- that is the ENGINE serial number, not the tractor serial number. Tractor serial number will start with a "D", then the model, 14, 15, 17, etc. Beyond that is the tractor serial number, per that model.

Thanks JMS,
The clutch housing has a 100 1550 stamped on it but no other no, also I have been told that the ser no is stamped above the clutch pedal, again no number there. This tractor has a foot clutch with a shuttle, forward and reverse, I do not know if that makes a difference. Thanks again alex.

Take a closer look at the 100 1550 number. I think it might actually read I60 1550 which would be correct.
