My Dad has a WD45 that we just can't get to perform, I know it should be able to do the things we ask of it but it just doesn't want to! When under load it sputters, backfires and it just dies. The carb is clean, needle is clear, points changed, timing changed, plugs, wires, cap, it is when it needs power and the gov should kick it up it just dies. Any suggestions for us rookie farmers! Thanks!

All sounds good, I would also make sure the intake
is sealed properly - may be loose or need one or
more new gaskets, this would keep gas from moving
into combustion chamber properly - also have you
checked the settings on you valves, very simple
and very imp... Let me know - Good Luck,
Allen Rhinehart...

My guess is your fuel supply is contaminated. It doesn't take much. A little piece of rust or a bug wing that jumps around and gets sucked up as the carb is demanding more fuel under load. Take off the sediment bulb and clean the screen. Blow back into the tank (very carefully if you use compressed air). Sometimes the only fix is a gas tank take off and cleaning or an extension of the fuel line so it is not sucking right off the bottom. You could also try an in line fuel filter though I expect your problem starts in the gas tank.qartsm

had the same problem with my "C" the float and needle were not working correctly, Built a new float and needle (have to do things like that out here in Australia) refitted and it ran beautifully, good luck.

Turn the needle about 3/4-1 turn CCW, its running lean

I have had similar experience. Who let that Farmall guy in here?? Somebody better shut the door!
To reiterate, make sure that you drain your fuel tank completely, and rinse with fresh gasoline to remove all water and condensation. Next, "rod-out" the tank outlet and shutoff valve, then clean or replace the fuel filter and gasket ($1.49). Next, blow out the feed line to the carb, having removed the carb and spray-clean with carb cleaner, all parts and needles. Also, make sure you have a good condensor and coil, sound (no cracks) distr. cap, and good clean contact points on wiring. The electric and fuel systems are forgivingly simple, and it is easy and inexpensive to thouroughly go through both systems. Good Luck, and report back your success!!

Make sure you have genuine Delco Remy ignition parts. I had the same problem about the same time some guy at work was complaining about K-mart points. I went back to the auto parts and insisted on the Delco Remy points (they cost 30% more than their mexican counterparts but my WD45 hasn't missed a beat since!!!
