I have a 43 WC,& the front end flops back & forth. While pulling a 2 gang disc,it is hard to keep it going strait. Can someone tell me what the problem is before i tear into it??I have 2 new wheel bearing sets from Tisco. Is there anyway to possible use shims or something to take out the play??
Thanks,Jarrod

On my WC the axle pivot pin and corresponding bore were wore out,as well as the brace pin and bore that connects to the bell housing. Mine had been broken and not properly repaired.(I have the nonadjustable wide frontend)It takes forty acres to turn the old girl around! If this is the case with yours,Buy twelve inches of 1.25" round stock and get the axle pivot reamed out. Also ream out the brace pin holes and install a tight fitting bolt with two nuts jammed together, them weld outer nut to the bolt so it won't come loose.

Jack the front up and get the wheels off the ground. Then turn the steering wheel and see where the slop is. There is a large bolt under the front spindles that you may have to remove. The spindle block is held on with a key and set screw. Might be the key is worn out. That might mean the keyway in the spindle block and steering shaft is worn too. Have to hope not. My guess is it isn't in the wheel bearings. When it's up, try to wiggle the wheels and see if there is any play in the hubs.

Check the universal joints in the steering shaft, they are down between the frame and engine.
