I was wondering how to determine the model and value of a 1938 one row Allis Chalmers. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It sounds like a model B. A very good (and highly desirable) little tractor. Go to the "Photo Ads" section in the gray bar to your left under "Marketplace". There is a nice looking restored "B" there. The earlier tractors had no starter or lights and hence no battery box under the steering shaft. There were a few (96) built in '37 with Waukesha engines, but they were really introduced in '38 with the Allis-Chalmers engine. Production (in the U.S.) ran thru Serial Number 127461 in 1957.

A one row what? Plow, cultivator, tractor, planter, etc, etc. Give us a model and condition and maybe we can get closer.

It is a 1938 Model and has a one-row cultivator. The tractor actually runs but needs some minor repairs (i.e replace original tire). It has been used every year to plow a small garden until last year when the tire gave out.
