Any info on how to tell which muffler is the correct one for this tractor? My manual isn't real clear. The engine number is CR42430. Thanks.

Thanks Ron. That looks like a good site. I'm new to AC's, been doing JD's. Half the battle in this hobby is getting your reference listing together. I really appreciate your help.

Burl,

I use the one with the Model # AC-1, but I can't remember the name of the muffler company. It is the one that you see in all of the farm supply stores. I like it better than the AC-3 that is recommended in the catalog because it has a longer pipe that runs from the exhaust manifold to the muffler. The hood on my 1950 Model B does not have a hole in it large enough to accomodate the AC-3 that has a shorter pipe and requires that a part of the muffler body fit through the hood.

The AC-1 has the single bolt mounting instead of the two holes and bracket required on later models.

The name of the muffler company is Stanley. If you go to most of the farm supply houses, the muffler catalog will be hanging close to the mufflers. I am sure Stanley is not the only manufacturer of replacement tractor mufflers, but is the predominant one here in Eastern NC. In their catalog, they will be numbered AC-1, AC-3, etc. They even have the little underhood muffler that was on a lot of the Model B's.
