Looking at a later model 190XT, no leaks, decient rubber, original paint, and seems to have been taken care of. However, it does have an exhaust manifold leak. I'm new to Allis Chalmers so I have some questions: Could the Turbo be gone and how much to replace, what is the value of the tractor, are parts readily available, did 190XTs have any common problems, are they competitive for tractor pulling? Thanks for any information.

Turbos were no more of a problem on a 190XT than on any other tractor. Cost varies. If you have a Rajay, it could cost $600 or more. If you have a Garret/Airesearch turbo, they can be found for $350. If you don't have a Garret, I'd suggest changing it over. I did mine and the difference in low end and top end power was incredible. Most XT's if they are in any shape at all, are worth $4500. About the only problem the XT's had was rear end problems in the early models. Should make a good puller. They are light for their power.

We are very happy with our XT. We have pulled it for 19 years with only one major breakdown. It is a great pulling tractor if you go through the trouble of getting it light enough. Allis Chalmers tractors can get lighter, easier than any other brand I know. Good luck and have fun!!

My XT was bought about 3 years ago and i have used it just about everyday. in the summer its used to tedder & roll hay and in the winter it is used to feed hay to our cows. it has been the most dependable piece of equipment that i have. eventually i want to completely restore it. the one thing i can't get over is that it starts on the first crank every time. the only repairs i have made is flushing the fuel tank besides regular maintenance.
