Sounds to me like your cylinder is leading down.
I plan on building a 3pt for my B also. Do you have pictures?

Should not be the pump. Raise all the way up, shut engine off. Should hold the load stable. If not, the valve leaks oil backward from the cylinder to sump, OR the cylinder seal is bad and leaking from one end to the other. If you have a simple one way hydraulics (no power down, only lift) it should be easy enough to see if oil is leaking out the top of the cylinder. What type of control valve are you using. It should have an UP and FLOAT-DOWN and netural in the center. Should not be any oil coming back thru the supply hose when in neutral position. If you have a factory valve setup and single way hydraulic cylinder, the vavle is porbably leaking backward. Might put a gauge temporary on the supply hose and see what kind of pressure it takes to hold up the load with engine off. Remember the pump on these tractors can put out over 2000 psi, be carefull when testing with temporary lines of valves.
