Would you believe I just finished up replacing the head gasket on my 4000 Ford when I noticed my 190 XT was blowing water out of the radiator overflow pipe, just like the 4000 was doing. Am I cursed? I am assuming it is the head gasket. Just noticed it the other day. Havne't gotten around to really checking it out. Any other suggestions as to what it might be? Has anyone replaced a head gasket on a 190 and perhaps might have a few pointers. Is there anything I should look out for when I have this thing apart? I thought I could relax abit and wait for planting weather. Who would want that? Also, the starter went out on my truck today. As they say, things happen in "threes". Wonder whats next? Anyway, enough crying, and Thanks for any help! John

John,
My 190xt does that when the radiator needs to be blown out. Other time I get coolant out the overflow is if I throttle down too fast after working the tractor or if I am on a side hill.

head gasket blow outs are rare on 2900's. Make sure head not cracked, or holes in sleeves (electrolysis- cavitational erosion);; you don't have a bad rad. cap? Filling the rad to within 2" of top of filler neck is 'bout as full as they will run. Anyway let the unit set a few hours and crack the oil drain plug and look for antifreeze. Use a radiator tester if possible and pump her up to about 15-20# and see if any H2O in oil. If not look topside for gasket or cracks.
