Two things. First, if you are near SOuthern Michigan and seriousl want to unload the little beastie, I'd be interested. Did you pay too much? I pay $1000 for a running B with electric start, in good shape. The equipment goes for $75-250 a piece. So you're right in the ballpark, especially if it has weights (wheel or side), PTO/Belt, and certainly if it has factory hydraulics.

Second, a while back, we had some good posts on how to install the equipment. CHeck the archives for "plow" as a starter. I have a belly mounted cultivator and plow on my machine, plus a belly mounted sickle bar and a belly mounted Woods finish mower. I love it.

To mount the plow, you need the front drawbar, which hangs under the square tube that holds up the front of the fenders. The back of this drawbar hookd to brackets that mount to the front of the final drive, just like the rear drawbar mounts to the back holes. To mount the cultivators, put the handle down, remove the rear dwawbar from the tractor, and back the teractor over the cultivator - the hoop goes in the rear. ONce yo get the handle clear of the fender support, lift the cultivator up. The front bolts to the torque tube (bell housing). The lift handle bolts to the fender support, and the back pivot bar or rockshaft has two brackets that bolt to the back of the fender angle iron.

My dad farmed a 5 acre garden with one of these when I was a boy. He worked 2 jobs and so did not have much ime, and it was a wonder worker. As I noted below, I like mine so much I'm spending $1000 in parts to rebuild it to perfection (OK, there's a little hot rod work - stainless fasteners, etc). I could have gotten out of it for the $250 head job, but that wasn't enough fun.

You did fine with price. If you plan on going w/ the n-series, plan on paying out the nose for it. I don't know where you are at, but anywhere within 60 miles of the twin cities, look to spend $2500 w/out any implements. Go to allischalmer.com and post your problems, like here, there is many people that will help. As for that 'doc' fellow, anybody can own a snapper.

Allen,
My B is the first tractor that I have personally owned. I've worked with Fords of various sizes prior to the B. I have to admit, the B is a ton more fun to work with and work on when compared with an 8N or 9N. The biggest drawback is the belly-mounted equipment. It does take time and patience in hooking these implements up. Once you get them set up though, like the others have alluded to, they work wonderfully. I just wish I had half of the implements you've listed. By the way, I paid $1,000 for my B with a bush hog and a belly mounted sickle mower. I think you did very well for the price.

The 'B' is a good tractor and a lot easier to work on than the Ford N series. Nothing against the N's but the "Little Allis" fleet is probably the easiest of all tractor's to work on.

It all depends on what you want to do with it. You can add hydraulics and run a front loader. Add a three point hitch conversion and use those implements too. The equipment you got with your tractor is probably all "belly mount" and designed for your tractor in particular. It's more difficult to mount but easier to use once you get it set up.

The "Little Allis" line is very agile. They were the original tractors of the famous "Tractor Square Dance." They are prized as mowing machines because with a belly mower, they are very maneuverable and don't leave much to trim up.

Getting used to a tractor will take some time. You will learn its "ways" and when you do... you will grow to love it. Maybe you will become a "brand biggot" like some of the rest of us on the board. ;-) I have a MF-2135 with a front loader, and 5 of the Allis line. Allis Chalmers is a great tractor line and the price you paid sounds fair. Don't think bad of your tractor purchase, you did fine.

Hey Doc, There is another board on this site that caters to your mentality, the tractor pulling board. We don't need you and they will welcome you with open arms.

Doc, You as any one else can read and post on the boards all you want, but if you read the posts on this board name calling is not something you find.

What you do find in reading these posts, is a lot of interest in Allis Chalmers tractors. You will also find reading the posts that some are very new to the use and repair of tractors and you will find others from across the world trying to help them.

I would hope that when you were starting to read and write that you were not one who was called names by people that could not understand why you could not read and write after your first month.

I have found by my email that a lot of people read the posts and learn from the questions and answers and are afraid to post because they don't want sound dumb. So please read and understand that all of us might not be as wise as you but we are trying.

That is a good price with the equipment you list. Whats wrong with a "B". It is 1000 pounds lighter that the Ford, but has the HP to pull those implements. Why sell?? I would be interested, but Texas is a long way from the Corn Belt.
