Pop has a 1941 "B" electric start. The problem is that with the battery full charged it won't turn over the motor enough to start it. We've tested the battery, starter, cables and ground and it still won't start on the battery.I keep thinking it has to be a bad ground but nothing seem's to work. Does anyone have any sugestions? Thank You.

If you can crank it by hand ,it's not the engine. The starter brushes may be badly worn or have weak springs. The battery cables may be too light. Run a ground cable from the + (ground side of the battery) directly to the starter frame, this would eliminate bad connections in the ground side. The starter switch may be badly worn.Starters are hard to test on the bench as it is difficult to put a load on the starter. where are you??

Good luck ted

Thanks for the advice I will try it.Yes the tractor starts and run's fine if you use the crank. We're in upstate N.Y so our snow is just melting and we hope to get at it soon.

Brian, I too have the same tracto with the same problem. I'm located in the capital district of New York. If you resolve your problem please give me a holler, we might be fighting the same beast. I am also awaiting the arrival of warmer wheather before I tackle this task. Thanks
