A 1950 B or C would (should) be 6V positive ground. Like Duey said, the first character of the S/N will tell you the model. A C is usually a tricycle tractor, though some were produced with an adjustable wide front end. The B was always a wide front end, either the "wishbone" type arched axle or the same adjustable wide front axle used on the C. The engines were even the same, the difference being that the C was designed as a two row tractor while the B was designed to work one row at a time. Hence the C is capable of a wider rear tread than a B.

thanks for the replys. I was pretty sure that it was a 6 volt, but just wanted to make sure. Does changing it to 12 volt devalue the tractor for original equiptment?

The serial # is by the gear shift. If the number starts with a B it's a B, if it starts with a C, then it's a C. It can't be both! An origional B or C had a 6 volt system. It can be changed to 12 volt generator or alternator system. Duey
