Getting ready to reassemble the final drives on a B and need to know if it would be smart to switch the bull pinion shafts from the right to the left and left to right or should I switch the whole final drive unit from the right to the left and vise versa, and / or should I do both.I would rather have wear / slop in reverse than in foward. (Will have all new bearings and seals.) Or should I put them back from where they came? Thanks for some input. Dale

Did a gear swap on a WC before, switched from one side to the other, If you have the whole thing apart, it would probably be just as easy to do either an axle swap or gear swap.

Why not switch from side to side, the whole final drive and maybe axle housing unit. The back side of the gears (reverse) will be in better shape and give you in effect new gears. The worn side will be your reverse and now get little use. I can't see why not, have considered doing the same myself when I put my WD back together.

Tom that is my thinking also. Seems like I read somewhere that this is a good trade out. Can't find that material now.--- Bought a WD45 on propane and a WD parts tractor the other day($500 for both). Looking forward to it.Been doing B's,C's,and CA's. Hope to remount the final drives this weekend. Thanks for the input. Dale

I would put every thing back the way it came apart you are going to have the same amount of slop either way and you probably dont want to wear down both sides of the gears.T.J.
