My father has a36 wc in his yard that has'nt run in about 30 years. The tractor was vandalised and just sat there.I got the interest in restoring it but not sure if its worth my while. Can I get a gas tank, radiator, carb, etc for it.One of the back wheels is rusted also.It has sentimental value but that is all.P.S. my wife thinks i'm nuts.Any sincere replys would be appreciated.

I like to go one step at a time when working on something that old. First get it. Set on blocks and chekc out the engine. If its loose o.k., if not then you have some work to do. Would not hurt to pull the head and pan anyway. Rebuild the carb and see if it will run. I have used a coffee can full of gas for a tank and an old truck radiator for testing. After it starts let it run on the blocks and chekc clutch and transmission, see what leaks. If it checks out and runs o.k., then consider spending money for wheels, tires, tank, etc. You can always change your mind later. It would be worth something only if you get the engine running, and you will get lots of experience.

Go for it!!!!! !!! There are parts. A 36 mmay have spoked wheels which are not as common I don't think. Get a reprint of the factory Owners Manual and Service manual ($5.95 and $8.95 + $2.oo shipping) from King's Books PO Box 86 Radnor, Ohio 43066-0086. Like the other post said, take your time, parts will turn up. You won't make any money, but it will be a fun project. I have a WD I have been picking away at for just a year now. It sat for 25 years. I have a parts tractor, and part of another now. I have repaired the engine block and started working on the the rest. I may get the engine together this winter and maybe get it running by spring, maybe not, time is tight. Still have a million little things to do all over the tractor. After you work on it for a while you will "bond" with it and then you know you get it back to life, just a matter of time and each thing you do will be very satisfying. Go for it and keep us posted, ask questions.

Paul, I would go for it. Parts are not that hard to find, or expencive. When that ole 36 fires up the buttons will pop off your shirt. I can't think of anything that gets me higher than firing up some piece of (junk) thats has set for years and years, and about to become a permant resedent in the house of mother nature. Don't set a time fram on fixing it, get manuals and liteture for it, take your time, maby get your wife, (kids) to help, make it a family venture. Work on it when the time permits. I'm John Deere poor and don't own Orange any more, but if I came across an ole rusty AC, I'd probly drag it home. any (old) tractor is worth restoring. Also there is a wealth of knowlable people on these boards to help you. Like I said, go for it, and be proud.
