Ken: I agree with Joe that smoking is a characteristic of that engine especially with the Allis-Chalmers injectors. A-C changed to Bosch injectors in the 8000 series and some late 7000 series tractors to eliminate the excessive black smoke. I don't think that you could reasonably retrofit your tractor with Bosch injectors because you would also have to change the injector lines, return lines and the injection pump from Roosa-Master to the Bosch Ambac pump. The reason that you would have to change pumps is because A-C did not supply injection line to put the Bosch injectors on a Roosa pump on the 670 series of Allis engines. The cost would be prohibitive for the benefits gained. I hope that this answers your question. Gordon

My experience with AC of this series is that they all smoke. You now know injectors are good. Remember, black smoke means 1) too much fuel, or 2) not enough air. Make sure air filter system is good i/e new filter, turbo good and etc... I have never been an AC fan. Several of my friends own them and like them. Do not misunderstand, I'm not trying to put them down...excessive smoke seems to be characteristic of these engines. good luck. Joe
