I have a 1981 6060 with 3000 hours on it. I am the second owner and have not had any problems with it. But I keep seeing post about problems with the double clutch wearing the block and crankshaft. I also read where the fix was a bearing and support on the front of the crankshaft. Is this needed? What kind of problems should I be looking for? Can I get a kit to install this fix myself if needed.

chris; Yes they did have problems with crankshaft thrust brg wear on this tractor. A field campaign was installed on the front of the crankshaft to help this problem....unfortunatly are no longer available. The PTO clutch is where the trouble begins ...when you have the PTO lever pulled back in the off position..you are putting pressure on the crank brg.The best thing to do is leave the PTO lever ahead when not in use. Use shaft disconnect to stop pto shaft from turning...it is located next to the fender on the floor on the left side of seat. The tractor was a Fiat ...with an AC engine in it. After market clutches are available if you need one.
