I have a 1942 Allis model B, and have a few questions. It has a cast iron valve cover and oil pan. I would assume that these were used on early models. Are these correct? It also has wide back fenders that cover top of the rear tires. these are factory fenders and not modified by someone later. Were these an option or ?

Finally the bottom layer of paint is olive drab in color (I really doubt that its primer) I've done some scraping and disassambly and alawys find the same olive drab paint. Is it possible that the tractor started its life in the Army? I may put it back into its original "working clothes" and repaint it back to olive drab... opinions? "Thanks in advance" Dennis

I hope this question does not show up twice, as I think my computer "ate" the first attempt... If it does, my appologies.

A couple of issues ago in the Old Allis News (this past spring or summer) there was the spec sheet for military B. The cast iron valve cover and oil pans were wartime issue, whether for military or civilian tractor. The OD paint could indeed be from the factory for a military B. The unusual fenders are also military issue. If you look closely, you might find a military serial plate (quartermaster data plate) somewhere on the tractor. You have something really worth restoring to original condition; there's not many of these seen at shows.

I have a C with a wide front end, that has a cast iron valve cover, oil pan and final drive covers. Besides having the regular serial number in front of the gear shift it has an additional number behind it. I have been wondering if it might be an industrial tractor or a military version. Any help would be appreciated.
