I recently noticed my 48 WC seems to run rough with rpm and under a load. Seems ok at idle. Any ideas?

Thanks all, for your input! Seem's it was as simple as new plugs. Big hayride (the kids love the AC) this weekend I was getting nervous.

If you have a "Mag" check the spring in the impulse coupling. For a "Mag" use only solid copper conductor spark plug wires with good insulation. For a distributor check the mechanical advance, especially the springs and for "free" working of the weights. Also check the points, the adjustment of the points, the timing, and the capacitor in the distributor. Check for distributor shaft wear which can change the point setting at different speeds. I like to use only solid copper conductor spark plug wires for the distributor equipted engines as well. As far as spark plugs are concerned I like the Bosh Platinum Plugs. I hand crank my WC's, so I want them to start "EASY". Also check the fuel flow to and through the carborator, Gas line, valve, filter, carb needle valve and float . You may have to take the carb apart if there is rust in the mixing chamber under the tube. Easy check - open the "Running" fuel adjustment valve to richen the mixture at high idle until you get black smoke from the exhaust. Then pull the choke momentarily. Sometimes this will "clear" a carb. Be sure to readjust the fuel mixture at "high idle" in accordance with the ownwers manual. Good luck, Gordon in IN

Fuel starvation, i.e. something partially plugged in the fuel system or carburetor, perhaps?
