I need help with a possible hydrolic problem, the oil on the dipstick under the foot plate is milky white. I suspect it has water in it. I first noticed it when the control for hyd. lines on the back wouldn't work, it was jumpy like it didn't have any fluid. then when I got it up( i had 10' mower deck on) the power steering was gone, then it would work, then not, when I moved the maschine it started to go then would hesxtitate, then go again. This machine was set up for a beach cleaner when it was new. The hydrolic filter(under the right side foot plate) is the same color as the tractor! I just started to use this machine and it doesn't look like much maintanance has been done. I think this tractor is over 30 years old, the serial number is 19030984xt3, I think it's wa made in 1967 I used it when I got out of the Navy in 1974, and it was in great shape then. any info on this machine would be greatly appreciated.

Could be water in system if it is milky all the time, even after it has not been run. If it is clearer after sitting it is probably churning air in the fluid, may be low or filter could be plugged causing it to suck air through the suction side of the system. First step to try would be to drain the fluid and replace the filter, then refill with new oil. Good luck, let me know what you find.
