Hi Gordon, I have a 175 D. I have replaced the head gasket twice. My bet would be on the head gasket. When you pull the head, look very closely at the head and the block. If there is a blown place, you can sometimes see it. There will be some discoloration sometimes. While you have the head off, you might want to have the head reworked at a head shop. I don't know which end of the state you live on, but there is a good head shop in Carothersville, Mo. I believe they charged me $200 to mill the head and grind the valves and seats. Good luck. Email me if I can help you.
