I,ve used a mixture of ATF and diesel in the cyls and then put air pressure in the spark plug hole. you do have to remove the rocker arms. also once used hydraulic pressure from another tractor in spark plug , but it broke rings, crankshaft was out
bee careful,time saves money

I would try kroil(I would buy it by the gallon) by kano I have an old case la that was stuck I removed the head poured about a cup into each clyinder and covered it to keep the dirt out and after about three weeeks it slowly started to move and when I got it to turn over by hand I put the head back on and fired it up and with every five gallons of gas added about a pint of kr

First of all..do not pull the tractor and pop the clutch!!! You may create more problems than you solve. If possible take the cylinder head off. Their is a product called Aero Kroil manufactured by Kano Laboratories that is the best thing I have ever found for loosening up things that are rusted and stuck together. Kano has a website. Put a generous amount on the top of the pistons so it will soak in between piston and cylinder walls. Next day give each piston an light tap with a block of wood and a medium sized hammer. (not a sledge hammer) Repeat this for a week or so. Above all be patient, and the greater probability is that you will get those pistons out with the least possible amount of damage. Use the Aero Kroil is a well ventilated area.

I've also used the Aero Kroil from Kano Labs. Apparently your engine was not stuck very tight. In my opinion, water would work as well as the Aero Kroil. I'd go with the PB Blaster or Liquid Wrench.

Ok, this will sound crazy, but I have used it succesfully. Pour each cylinder full of coca cola. change it about every three days. It will eat away the corrosion and rust after a while, longest its taken was about two weeks. Of course you will have to clean everything good after you get it loose, but hey its better than nothing.

Bill,
If she is stuck that badly go ahead and break her apart (engine out/seperated from the transmission),drop the crank and try to drive the pistons out with a hardwood 2x4 and mallet, knocking from the bottom and top alternatively.
I would pass on pulling it and popping the clutch, you will just break something else if you are as lucky as I am.
Tisco makes a good overhaul kit and now is as good a time as any to get that done since you have everything apart.

it has been my expereince that wd-40 makes aluminum oxidize, therefore stick harder. Try transmission fluid instead sinc it prevents aluminum from oxidizing and is still a lubricant, somewhat. Let me know if it helps.

Bill, I would like to suggest that you try some PB Blaster. It's the best penetrating oil I've ever used. It comes in an aerosol can; you should be able to get it at any good auto parts store(like NAPA) or at Wal-Mart. Remove the diesel fuel/WD40, spray an inch or so of PB Blaster in each cylinder, and let her soak. Check it every day or two and add more Blaster as needed. I also like Liquid Wrench, but for things that are stuck that tight, PB Blaster has Liquid Wrench beat IMO.

I would also pull the oil pan and have a look up inside the cylinders with a flashlight. Can you see penetrating oil seeping past the pistons? If not, take a block of wood and a hammer and give the pistons a good tap every day, like Butch suggests. Let us know how much progress you make!

If those engines are stuck that hard there are likely some damaged parts inside like rings and sleeves. Mr. J's suggestion of jerking the thing around with a chain has worked for some I guess, but I wouldn't do it, it's real easy to bend the rods. Take the heads off, and use a hard wood block and a good sized hammer (not sledge)to give each piston a good wack. That helps to loosen things so the oils can seep down do their job. Do this every day for a couple weeks. If they don't come loose after a couple weeks, remove the rod caps and remove the sleeves and pistons at the same time. Take them to someone that knows what they are doing and have them pressed apart. Never seen a motor stuck that hard that had usable sleeves or rings, but "usable" is in the eyes of the beholder too.

Bill,

Patience is the key. But instead of using Diesel and WD-40, you might try a product called Liquid Wrench. Many people have used that stuff with better success than WD-40. Don't get anxious and do something that you might regret. Have you tried pulling the tractor around and popping the clutch? Another thing is to put the head of the tractor back on and fill 2 cylinders with Coca-Cola. The carbonic acid creates quite a bit of pressure once you put the spark plugs in it. But, only put the Coke in 2 cylinders at a time, the 2 that are in the same position on the Crankshaft. Either 1-4 or 2-3. Anyway, I wish you good luck on your tractor. Hope it all turns out well. Keep us informed about what happens.

In Reply to your stuck engine. I also had an engine stuck. The best thing to do is pull the head clean up the rust that is in the cyl. walls soak with any kind of penatrating oil.pull the oil pan. remove the rod caps. rember to keep them in order from where you got them. go back on top and with a block of wood tap down pistons. if they dont move. gounder and using a jack and along piece of wood jack the pistons out. also on the wc the pistons are a 4 inch bore you can use small block chevy rings the ring lands are the same size. it worked for me
