I have a line on a Allis 272 D. It is excellent shape and has 3 cyl. perkins diesel. All info on this would be greatly appreciated. I am a JD man and no nothing of Allis. thanks

They're a little rare on this side of the pond. More common in Canada than the U.S. They were British made and based on the AC "B". Some AC collectors books have a little information on them. I have no idea what parts availability is.

The tractor was finished at the A-C
Essendine plant in the UK. Parts for Perkins are readily available. The power
train is basically the same as our CA
with the 4-speed transmission. It does
NOT have a power director hand clutch or
spin out wheeels. The D-272 was the designation
for the tractor whether gas or diesel. Diesel
ones are scarce.
Power train parts are still available from
your AGCO dealer, however sheet metal parts
and castings will have to be purchased at
a salvage yard. I have a gas version of the D-272 and can
put you in contact with someone in The
Allis Connection club who has a diesel if
you need more information. I would guess about $3000 for one in pretty good shape, but not show ready.
