I purchased a farm in NC recently and in the barn was an Allis Chalmers Model - B (the best I can tell) I saw on the message board how to obtain and verify this information. This tractor is in fairly good condition. It has not run in several years but the previous owner said it ran when it was parked some 12 odd years ago. My question is that because I have never restored an antique tractor and because this is such good shape. Should I delve right in and see what happens or should I sell it to someone who knows what they are doing? If I were to sell it, I have no idea what it is worth. Also, if I did sell it, I would want most of the implements to go with it (cultivators, 2 turn plows, 2 sets of discs, sickle bar, bush hog, 3 point hitch and various other things I could not describe)… I am open to suggestions. Email me at azeggert@yahoo.com

the basic tractor should be about $5-600. If it is not stuck and you can clean the carb and get it running you should be able to get $8-1000. these are rough ideas. Depends on how bad someone wants it. I would pay that in Illinois. The implements might be worth $100 to $200 each. again depending on who in your area needs it. YOu can see implements go for $20 at a farm sale, then sell for $200 a month later??? Up to you if you jump in or not. should not be much work to get it to start. but if you have no interest or time for tractors, then find it a good home.

I never knew a thing about tractor restoration before i bought two allis b's now I am nearly finished restoring the first one - I used bits from both to get it done and spent a few bucks along the way as well - its fun and besides with such a great bunch of guys here at ytmag to bounce ideas off and glean info from you cant go wrong! trust me I know I have so many people here who have helped me - its a fantastic site! the things to look for when checking her out are obvious signs of rust in the sheet metal ie fenders and bonnet etc and rust on the exhaust manifold plus see if you can turn her over with the crank - if you can great if you cant you may have some work ahead - the implements sound awesome two (and they are getting harder to get too) and I am sure if you restored her to showroom condition and the implements as well you would be the envy of tractor lovers the world over!
