Do you have any steel wheels, extra engines, or side engine weights running around your area? If so please let me know.

after removal clean the bottom seal area real good. bevel the block edge in the water jacket above the lower seal area. where there might be crud built up. this is the area where the o-ring tapers into the fit area. i set the sleeve back in the hole with new o-rings, lubed up real good. i layed an oak block on top and struck with 5 pound hammer to drive it the last 1 inch. watch thru the next sleeve hole as the o-ring goes into the fit. hope it dont pinch. you can watch the first 3, last one is blind. remember---good clean bevel area and lots of lube.

I don't want ta start a war wits ya but if I can't push the sleeves home with the palms of my hands on a wood block I do some more cleaning of the bottom hole. Before putting the o rings on I make sure I can slide the sleeve all the way down with out pressure and then turn it without it binding. This way you can feel the o ring and know when your about to shear the edge off an o ring.

I didnt know that. Mine were much tighter. I did not test without rings on. Wonder if it will make a difference, or just easier your way. What do you do if they dont drop in, polish with sandpaper, wirebrush? I have only done a couple engines and they were not "loose". I reused the original sleeves with new o-rings and piston rings. I guess i am more familiar with the dry sleeve type and didnt think about drop in. I have one apart now, just "pounded them in" What do you think? I was going to air test the water jacket to check the o-rings becuase of the tight fit.

I use a wire wheel on an air die grinder to get the rough off. I blue the bore and see where it scrapes the blue off when I push the sleeve down and use a 80 grit flapper wheel on the die grinder where the blue is scraped off. Just repete untill they are free.
You can use a electric drill also, just takes longer.

to get it out i ues a oak block and a hammer that works well but to put it back in puut the piston with the rings on it in the freezer for about an hour maybe a little longer that will make it shrink therefor you dont need to use a ring compressor

Best way is a sleeve puller. I pound them out from the bottom. I have a heavy steel bar and a heavier hammer. Hard to do if you dont have the engine upside down on wood blocks. If it is still on the tractor, back to sleeve pullers.
