I don't believe you have a valid SN for a C Allis. Look in front of the shifter lever. Number should start with C followed by the series of numbers. Highest C number listed is 68281.

Folks,

The serial number table listed to the lower left states that the serial numbers listed are the starting serial numbers, not the final. Hence, the 1949 production run started with serial number 68281. Depending on the reference used, the year to serial number reference has some variability.

According to Terry Dean's book (Allis-Chalmers Tractors and Crawlers Buyer's Guide), model year '50 started at serial number 80518 and ended production with serial number 84030.

Mike(Ma) I stand corrected. You are right, they start at 68281 for model year 1949, however my book shows 1950 as the starting year for the CA at #14. Was this a late in the year changeover?

AZ Jack,

I've always been under the impression that the C ended in '49 myself and was replaced by the CA in '50. Given that the reference book lists only about 5000 Cs for the 1950 production year, I'm betting that they (Cs) were left overs or were mass produced until the CA was actually read for full scale production.

So from what I understand I have a 1950 Allis C? And only 5000 were produced that year?
Thanks
