Hope y'all are doin' ok out there today. I'm sittin' in Houston, glad that that hurricane is about 200 miles east of here, waiting to head "back home" to Michigan tomorrow, and I got to thinkin' about our little C's brakes.

Is there an "easy" way of changin' out the linings? At the moment, among the other things I've been workin' on that I've ask about on this forum, I am working at loosing up the adjusting nut on the T-bolt to see if I can snug up the brakes on the tractor now, but I was wonderin' how hard it would be to just change out the linings and start fresh.

I did one better, I drill and tap the pins from the outside. Using a 1/4" bolt and washers backed the pins right out without problem. I did soak them in S'OK overnight, but they came out just fine. My "C" has been sitting up in the field for 15years before I got it, it will work.

The bands are hinged on the bottom and come out the top after removing the linkage, fenders& mounts and pivot pins. If everthing is free and you own an impact wrench I could see it being done in a couple hours. More likely everything is rusted solid. Best advise I have seen for this job is to soak everything for a month and send the women to town before ya start so they can't hear the cuss'en. The pivot pins will be a bear unless some kind soul never-siezed them last time. If your final drive housings do not have holes at the inside end of the the pivot pins you will most likely have to drill some so you can acess the back of the pims with a punch.
