I am in the process of restoring a 1948 C and am at the point where I need to know what type of lube goes in the 90 degree gear box on the lower end of the distributor (battery ignition). When I tore it down the lube looked like a plain petroleum jelly or grease. So far none of my information tells what to use. Thank you in advance for any help.

Steve

Best thing to use is a 00 grade grease (semi fluid) You can check with places that sell Lubri-Plate products and ask if they can get MAG 00 in small containers. Thats what I use but have a 5 gallon bucket. Another product that would work is Lubri-Plate motor assembly grease. It comes in a big squeeze tube and is availible at NAPA. Place enough in the cavity that the gears will pick it up but don't fill it.
