what "series" would a 190xt with a sn of 16xxx belong to? This one is supposed to be a 1967. Are there significant differences between Series I, II and III tractors?

Jim
It is a Series 1 & it is a 1967. The ones built before 1968 did have rear end problems due to pople turning power up.

The Series I had rear end problems without turning up the power. They were D19 rear ends, and couldn't handle the XT power. Dealers had a factory warrranty replacement program for a time, but not all owners knew about it. You need to determine if the rear end was updated, or is original.

So if I am interested in the tractor, I should have it dyno'ed to make sure it's not been turned up? What other problems?

I dont know where you live but I'm in the procese of purchasing a gas 190XT with a bad tranmition. My plan is to use the motor in a 7010 that has a blown diesle. I'd sell the rest of the tractor if you need parts.
