G carb problems

The last time I ran my G (in February) it started and ran fine. Last week I tried to start it and no luck. We've determined that there is fire to the plugs and gas is getting to the carb. We've cleaned the sediment bowl and the carb.

It will start and run for a short time using starter fluid. It just won't pick up the gasoline and run thereafter.

Any suggestions, comments or similar problems?

Thanks

Al

Al,
This is my second post, don't think the first was sent properly. My WD died yesterday while pulling tree stumps. A pull on the starter would occasionally get it to fire briefly, then die again. I cleaned the sediment bowl and blew out the fuel line from bowl to carb. 2 more pulls on the starter and she fired up. Ran fine the rest of the day. Good luck. Jay

We seem to have isolated the problem to a lack of compression. Going to pull the head tomorrow to see if it's a valve or ring problem.

Thanks,

Al

Al,
I had a similar experience just yesterday pulling tree stumps with my WD. Running fine, then just died. I could get the engine to turn, occasionally it would briefly fire, then die again. I cleaned the sediment bowl, and blew out the line from the bowl to the carb. Don't know which one did the trick, but after 2 more pulls on the starter, she fired up and ran the rest of the day. Good luck. Jay
