My dad would like to know if there is a replacable valve guide in his CA. One stuck and he removed the head. Said the valve was free, but only so far before it binds. Thanks in advance. I don't know the year, other than to say is it older than my '55 CA.

YES, THE VALVE GUIDES ARE REPLACABLE. THEY WERE AVAILABLE FROM NAPA
IF THE VALVE IS LOOSE I WOULD REMOVE IT AND CLEAN THE STEM WITH A WIRE BRUSH, AND RUN A WIRE BRUSH THRU THE GUIDE. YOU COULD HAVE A BUILDUP OF CARBON ON IT [EXHAUST VALVE]. LOTS OF LUCK

What about putting in (without lead in gas for these older engines) hardened valve seats or valves? Is this done? Talked with an Allis owner last night and he adds one pint of tranny fluid to gas instead of a commercial lead additive. Thanks for your input.
