I get this nostalia thing every so often. Well for the last couple days it has been for the Ohio Blue Tip matches; stick matches that were in a decorative box. I remember my grandma starting the wood cook stove with them. And in the winter, going down to the basement with her as she started the wood furnace if the fire had gone out. Anyone know if you can still get a decorative matchbox? Wind chill -5 in Wisconsin. Thanks

What / why are you dreaming of ohio blue tip matches? I have not seen a good one in years. those strike anywhere but wont light matches. You could scratch them on the side of the box and by the time you had half a box left, the scratch pads were worn out. Start looking for the Diamond strike anywhere matches cause you still can light them off your jeans or almost anywhere and have them light. Just my observation here. Jerry

I have also been looking for these matches since they stopped being sold here in South Carolina several years ago. In my experience they were better than the Diamonds. I guess it just depends on what shipment one buys from-luck of the draw. The ones I used would strike very easily on any abrasive surface. If anyone finds some, please email me. Thanks, John

I remember Ohio Blue Tip matches, or at least remember the name. I do not remember a decorative box. It seems to me they had a lot bigger flame than those puny things today.
