Hi all,

I posted a week or so ago about this particular tractor. I took some photos and posted one (the title of the photo is the same as this subject). Again, I'm a realtor and this tractor is on a property that I am marketing. I'd love to know more about it as I may be able to own it or help someone else own it in the near future.

thanks,
Alex

I agree with the styled WC being the tractor. I suspect that the belly mower is a Continental of Belton due to the green paint and some of the brackets. It might still be usable, but being sunk in the ground like that may have damaged it beyond repair.

Good luck,
Phil

I hear you about the damage from the ground. Both rear wheel rims are rusted through. One of them is sunken currently (the other rear tire seems to be relatively new (still has faded crayon markings on it).

What all can be wrong with this thing? 2 rear rims, 2 front tires and 1 rear. Maybe front wheels? How much to perform a complete fluid change and tune up to asses it's value? Mostly just thinking out loud. It might be a neat piece of equipment!

a locked up WC without tires is $100. if it would start and move and still looked poor it would be $500. has to be a decent lookin and running unit with good tires to approach $1000. see way to many "decent" units for $600-800.

Styled WC with a finish belly mower on and distributor conversion like JMS says.

It is a styled WC model, made between 1939 and 1947. It has been converted from magneto to battery ignition (coil and vertical distributor are visible). It has the mechanical cultivator lift on it- forward of the operator's area. That device is driven by the transmission and raises the mounted row-crop cultivator. It is tripped by a foot pedal (right side) to make it operate. To find the serial number you'll have to scrape or wire brush the paint away- you are looking in the right place- very common for them to be covered up. The numbers are stamped in to the differential.

Looked at the picture again to figure out what the green frame is underneath the tractor- is it part of a mower? It looks like the assembly is raised by the cultivator lift. Since the RC and WC shared the same frame construction, that lift could be on either one. They used the same mounted cultivator. But this is definitely a WC- the engine and radiator are of the correct physical size. Radiator sits immediately to the rear of the steering casting. On an RC, with the shorter CE engine and radiator, there is a space of several inches between the radiator and the steering casting.
