AC WD Position-Hold Valve

My 1949 AC AD has a 3-point hitch. When the engine is running, the rams raise and lower the hitch just fune. However, the position tends to creap upward or downward but won't hold.

The rams have new seals, which didn't fix the problem. I adjusted the position-hold valve according to the service manual. This partially fixed the probelm, but the position still creaps.

Can I get a position-hold valve as a seperate unit, or do I have to buy the hydraulic pump too?

Where is the best place to buy these as rebuilt units?

Thanks,
Al

Your hold valve is probably leaking internally. It is a steel ball against a brass seat and is manually unseated by a push rod via the hand lever. Some guys have had good luck replacing the steel ball. The problem is as the old seat wears it moves closer to the push rod and the check ball goes with it. Soon there is no clearance between the ball and the push rod and the system will never be right. Sandy Lake Implement can rebuild the hold valve for you.

Hi,

Thanks for the tip. Where is Sandy Lake located? Do you have their phone number? This will be a wintertime project, but has to be done--we use the tractor for field work and other stuff.

Thanks,
Al
