I have purchased a 3 pt conv kit for my CA. Does anyone have any experience pulling a standard duty 6 ft shredder? Would I be better off with a 5 f

I second RMD's post. My CA with a 6 foot wouldn't keep its front on the ground. A King Kutter 5 foot works good. Works even better with a head off an old Ford six on the front of the tractor. Be sure to get a over-running clutch for the PTO.
There is an article on brush hogs and on 3 point hitches on this site. They explain why you need to spend $60 on the clutch.

If you're referring to a finish mower, I am running a six foot, 3 point, behind my D-14, which runs just over 30hp. Get the gear box type mower, it's mower reliable than the belt type. I am mowing about three acres and using a farmall A with a five foot took twice as long as it does with my D-14. If you have a reliable dealer, he should set you up with the proper mower for the tractor, and what you are cutting.

The CA is well less than 30 PTO HP. I wouldn't go over 5 ft. My father ran a 5 ft. trail type cutter on his CA for 30 years. If you get a mounted (3 point) mower you may need to counter balance the tractor (i.e. add weight to the front end)since the CA is real light in the front.
