My "B" project continues: the guy before me got the engine stuck and so he disconected one of the connecting rod end caps and lost the shim. I bought some plastigauge to measure the gap. Is it possible to get one shim or do I need to buy a set. Also if it is OK with out the shims, is it all right to run them with none. Thanks for the help Andrew

if the plasti-gauge says the clearance is good with no shims, by all means it can be run that way....according to the book it mentions that if you are running it without shims you may have to take a couple thous. off (very little) the ends of the bearings for proper crush...however this is an indicator that new bearings should be installed....work slowly when shimming bearings

you can buy a small secion of shim stock at NAPA or other auto store, cut your own shims with scissors or tin snips. you will probalby need a couple shims on each bolt. originally they had 3 shims, .002 each on each bolt. it would be abnormal to not need any shims.
