Allis IB brake hub

I have spent 3 days trying to get the brake hub (drum?) pulled from the axle. I pulled 3 others with the cheap 3 jaw pullers I have, but this one just tears up the puller. I have soaked it and driven it on some, but can't get it to budge coming off. What is the best way to hook the hub for pulling? I can't get very big puller jaws through the hub holes and the hooks just break before it moves.

Thanks for the advice. I finally got time to try again and the axle just bounced using the big hammer method. I got it blocked in a 20 ton press and put all the pressure that I thought the casting would stand and still nothing. Beat on the hub while under pressure and the hub finally popped loose and the whole thing fell off the press. Did this a couple more times and was able to hammer the axle out. The key took a chunk out of the seal but I didn't notice any other damage.

turn the final drive on its end with the axle pointing striaght up. block under the bull housing with 2 x 4s so it is about level and solid. dont set anything under the axle shaft outer bearing area.--- make sure you reach thru the 1 inch drain hole and remove the squaare set screw in the hub. soak it real good with penetrant from the top shooting down the shaft.--- now get a brass rod about 1 inch diameter and a few inches long. clamp it with vice grips and hold on top of the axle. smack it as hard as you can with a 5 pound hammer. the axle will not be square in the housing so it will try to slide off the 2 x 4s. keep setting it back up square and smack it again. takes about 40 whacks, depending on how big a hammer you got and how big a whack you got.
