CA starter into WD????

Will the starter out of a CA work in the WD I am fixing up??? The dimensions appear to be similar and the only difference that I can find is the starter model number. The CA takes a different rebiuld kit so are there some internal differances that would make the CA starter not work in my WD???

Won't fit. WD uses a 4 pole field while WC, B, C, & CA uses a 2 pole field. This gives WD more cranking power. The bendix drive on the WC & WD has fewer teeth hence smaller diameter, again gives more cranking power to the larger engine. B & C use the same drive end housing, other tractors each have a different one.

I USED A CA STARTER IN A WC BY SWAPPING THE BENDIX UNITS. WORKED FINE. BOB
